Getting To Harris

Reaching the Isle of Harris, Scotland, is primarily achieved by ferry from Skye or Ullapool, or by flights to Stornoway (SYY) on the Isle of Lewis.

Advance booking for ferries is essential, especially in summer. Ferries fill up quickly, so it is best to book well in advance.


Ferries To Harris

Operated by Caledonian MacBrayne (CalMac).

Uig (Skye) to Tarbert (Harris): The most direct route to Harris (approx. 1h 40m).

Ullapool to Stornoway (Lewis): A major route (2h 45m) followed by a 1h 15m drive to Harris.

Berneray to Leverburgh (Harris): Connects the Uists to South Harris.


Flights to Harris

Airport: Stornoway Airport (SYY) on the Isle of Lewis is the main airport, about an hour from Harris.

Airline: Loganair operates daily flights from Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Inverness.

Inter-island: Hebridean Air Services provides flights between islands.


Car Hire

Car hire is recommended to explore, available at Stornoway airport. Bus services exist but are infrequent.
